New Classrooms for Diepsloot Philile

Over the past three years Corporate Traveller has had a very close affiliation with the Philile Foundation.

From our humble beginnings at the Hillbrow school to the current growth that the Foundation is experiencing, Corporate Traveller and clients have been a reliable part of the development of this incredible organisation.

This year Philile opened a second pre-school in the Diepsloot informal settlement. Starting with a three containers and a small piece of unfenced ground the Foundation opened its doors to nearly 40 local children. Within a couple of months Corporate Traveller arranged for the site to be properly fenced and a sturdy gate was erected.

Apart from keeping the little ones safely inside the fencing has also created a sense of being in the area. Growth has been steady and the need to provide proper pre-school education and after care to more Diepsloot children meant that the little school needed to expand.

Corporate Traveller and staff donated R30 000 towards the purchase of new containers and it was extremely gratifying to witness the unveiling of the new facilities recently.

With four new containers on the property Philile Diepsloot now has over 80 local children in its care. Adding to this two new teachers, drawn from the community, have been trained to teach and lead the new recruits.

One of the new containers is a fully functional bathroom which plays a second, equally important role in the community. The Witkoppen Primary Health Care Centre utilises this facility once a week to provide primary health care to the residents of the Diepsloot area.

We are very proud of the sterling work that the dedicated management and staff of the Philile Foundation have achieved this year and look forward to the plans for the future.
