Accident Leaves One Dead On The R28

[RANDFONTEIN – 22 FEBRUARY 2012 AT 17H00]

A single vehicle accident on the R28 between the N1 and N12 near Randfontein has left one person dead and two other people with moderate injuries this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the local Fire Department in attendance. The light motor vehicle was found in a field just a few meters away from the road side. A man believed to be the driver and is in his thirties was found walking around on scene. He was assessed and found that the he had suffered a cut to his head. A female believed to be in her mid twenties and four months pregnant was treated for a cut on her head and paramedics were concerned about the baby as well due to the accident. Both patients were transported to Mediclinic Vereeniging for further medical care.

A teenager who is believed to have been ejected from the car in the accident was found a few meters away from the incident. Unfortunately the patient had already succumbed to the fatal injuries and was declared deceased on scene.

The circumstances around the accident are unclear but the local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
