Deputy Minister Manamela Leads 2023 Agriculture and Other Critical Skills careers Expo,27 July 2023

Thursday, 27 July 2023 - Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Mr Buti Manamela lead the agriculture and other critical skills and economic opportunities exhibitions at Gamalakhe Township under Ugu District Municipality.

Ugu District Agriculture and Other Critical Skills Careers Expo and Economic Opportunities Exhibitions was hosted as part of the Ugu District Development Model (DDM) initiatives aimed at uplifting the lives of the people of Ugu District and surrounding areas.

This initiative follows a resolution adopted during the Ugu District Youth Indaba held on 22 September 2022, to host Youth Careers Exhibitions in contributing towards addressing the high rate of youth unemployment in the area through skills development.

This Expo was hosted by AgriSETA, in partnership with Deputy Minister Manamela, in his capacity as the DDM national champion in Ugu District, the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) and Ugu District Municipality.

The primary aim of the Expo was to raise awareness amongst learners about the many career options available to them post-matric, and to further expose the unemployed youth of Ugu to the available economic opportunities they can participate in.

This Careers Expo was  attended by a total of 1400 intended beneficiaries constituting learners from the 16 high schools and unemployed youth from the Ugu District Municipality.

Deputy Minister Buti Manamela was joined by, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Nokuzola Rosemary Capa, the Executive Mayor of Ugu District Municipality, Cllr Sikhumbuzo Isaac Mqadi, the AgriSETA Board Chairperson Ms Sharon Sepeng and the AgriSETA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Innocent Sirovha.
