The 16th annual AMEC Awards were held last night at Casa Llotja de Mar in Barcelona, Spain. The Awards aim to celebrate exceptional research, measurement and analytical reports from around the globe.

The Silver that Newsclip’s analysis division, Focal Points, received was for Best use of measurement for a single event for its ‘One-eyed Jack: Rocking the Daisies’ campaign.

Anja Van Schalkwyk, team leader: analysis and media intelligence at Focal Points, explained their 2018 submission.

“Our submission this year was an assessment of the metrics used for the Rocking the Daisies media strategy and whether or not the media coverage received supported the objectives set out by One-eyed Jack.”

Based on the analysis, Focal Points was able to prove that One-eyed Jack’s media strategy was the event’s most successful to date.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome,” said Van Schalkwyk. “These Awards offer a highly competitive platform for the best organisations around the world to showcase their skills. We are so honoured to be recognised by AMEC.”

Newsclip is no stranger to the AMEC Awards, having received a Silver for the Plain English Award in 2017 for simplicity in campaign effectiveness measurement and reporting, based on an analysis report for the 2016 South African Car of the Year Awards.

“To be awarded for a second year in a row is a huge victory for us,” said Newsclip representative, Catherine Dabbs. “It is a testament to the quality of the research, analytics and reporting in South Africa.”
